Listen to Your Art’s Friday Sound on April 13th

April 05, 2018
By Quinn Lanning, '18 and Alena Pulhug, '19

Listen to Your Art's Friday Sound on April 13thThree years ago, a group of West Sound Academy students organized the first Listen to Your Art music and arts festival as a benefit for The Trevor Project, the nation’s leading suicide prevention hotline for LGBTQ youth. Since 2014, the three festivals hosted have raised over $20,000 for The Trevor Project. With engagement from local artists, musicians, and public speakers, Listen to Your Art has invited the people of Kitsap to join the conversation surrounding suicide awareness and lift the taboo associated with suicide discussion. With many of our core members graduating and changing the world through their own journeys, the current Listen to Your Art team has made the decision to hold smaller-scale music events, called Friday Sound, at West Sound Academy (WSA).

Friday Sound was an old WSA tradition that was brought back in 2017 as a fundraising effort for Listen to Your Art’s main festival. This event will continue on in future years as a completely student-run direct fundraiser for The Trevor Project. On April 13th, Listen to Your Art will be hosting Friday Sound with bands from WSA and other areas in Kitsap, including The Red Tails, Quinn Lanning, 24-Hour Hug, Lauren Wallach and Zoe Moreton. Doors open at 6:00 pm and the music starts at 6:30 pm. All ages are welcome to come and listen.

Ticket prices are as follows: $5 for students $7 for adults $15 for families of 3 or more.

Thank you for following Listen to Your Art and supporting its goal of alleviating the stigma behind the conversation of suicide and supporting those who struggle with suicidal ideation.
