October 3 - 31:
The West Sound Academy Drama Club and Thespian Troupe #8175 will be collecting nonperishable food donations for Fishline as part of the Trick or Treat so Kids Can Eat food drive - part of the International Thespian Society’s annual nationwide community service initiative.
Bring food donations to the orange bins in Frodel and Baker Halls throughout the month of October.

October 6:
Picture Retake Day!
The photographers will be on campus at 9 a.m.
Bring in your picture packages if you purchased the first round of pictures and would like new ones taken.
If you missed the first picture day, you can bring an order form in with you and have your picture taken.

October 11:
West Sound Academy students are invited to come meet with an admissions representative from Whitworth University: Mrs. Freeman's room, Parke 4, at 9:45 a.m.

October 14:
Friday, October 14 is Northwest Association of Independent Schools (NWAIS) In-Service Day, so there is NO SCHOOL.
This is a day when NWAIS teachers participate in workshops, collaborative planning, and professional development.

October 17:
West Sound Academy students are invited to come meet with an admissions representative from Reed College: Mrs. Freeman's room, Parke 4, at 9:15 a.m.

October 19:
All students in Grades 8 - 11 will take the Preliminary SAT (PSAT) on Wednesday, October 19. This is a program co-sponsored by the College Board and National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
It's a standardized test that provides firsthand practice for the SAT. It also gives students in 11th grade a chance to enter National Merit scholarship programs.
- There will be a 12:00 NOON DISMISSAL on that day.
- Students in Grades 6 and 7 will have a half-day field trip.
- Seniors have NO SCHOOL on October 19, and may use it as a study day.

October 19:
West Sound Academy students are invited to come meet with an admissions representative from Hampshire College: Mrs. Freeman's room, Parke 4, at 1:00 p.m.

October 21:
All-School Halloween Dance
Come for:
- Murder in the Dark game
- Prizes at a fishing pond
- Makeup station
- Fortune teller
Place: The Commons
Time: 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
Dress: Costumes, of course! (No inappropriate or excessively gory costumes, please)
Cost: $8 without food, $7 with one can, $6 with two, $5 with three or more
Food collected will go to WSA Thespian Troupe's Trick or Treat So Kids Can Eat food drive.
Note: Non-WSA students will need to bring a completed WSA Guest Permission Slip to school by October 21 in order to be admitted to the event.
October 21:
West Sound Academy's Frodel Gallery presents paintings by Jeff Olson, on exhibit through the month of October.

6:30 to 8:00 p.m.
The public is invited to the reception for Olson, and guests will be able to enjoy light refreshments and wine.
