Founded in 1998, West Sound Academy is located in a beautiful setting overlooking Liberty Bay in Poulsbo, Washington. Our campus is composed of twenty rural acres with four buildings, a soccer field, outdoor amphitheater and an outdoor sport court. The buildings provide eight floors of teaching, performance, and administrative space.

See Driving Directions and Street map below.

Frodel Hall includes visual arts, dance, and music classrooms plus an art gallery that regularly hosts professional shows. The name honors Dr. Edward Frodel, visionary co-founder of West Sound Academy, whose dedication to teaching and learning through an integration of academics and arts continues to inspire and direct current WSA teachers and administrators.

Parke Hall contains classrooms and a life sciences lab, and was named for Dr. Gordon Parke, co-founder of West Sound Academy. Dr. Parke’s work with youth and families and his recognition of the strong role of culture in child development were instrumental in establishing the school as an ethical, caring, educational community.

Ryan Hall houses classrooms and chemistry and physics labs. The name recognizes Tim Ryan who early on believed in the importance of independent college preparatory education and played an important role in the lengthy and complicated process that led to the construction of the WSA campus.

Baker Hall contains a library, a large meeting hall and administrative offices and acknowledges the dedication and commitment of Nellie Baker, the school’s founding Head. Ms. Baker gave the vision of the school founders life, creating academic and arts programs and securing facilities and staff.

From our classrooms, we view the Olympic Mountains in their seasonal majesty.  It is quiet here; we enjoy the presence of wildlife - especially our resident bald eagle. We have room for our students to be with nature unfettered by cars and traffic. A running and biking trail, a soccer field, and our own gardens encourage outdoor activities. Daily life at West Sound is secluded and peaceful, allowing our students to focus on their studies, to create, and to explore ideas.
