West Sound Academy students will be heading off to rivers, mountains, and forests this May for WSA's annual Spring Trips.   These excursions are week-long experiential learning opportunities that have been a tradition at our school. The trips are designed for grade-band groups of students, with the goal being to give them the opportunity to stretch themselves in a new direction, learn outdoor skills or have a shared cultural experience. Extensive gear lists and trip information will be provided by trip chaperones to students and their families.

Here is where WSA students are headed for SPRING TRIPS 2012:

GRADES 6 AND 7

Where: Camp Sealth on Vashon Isand

Leaders: Lisa Gsellman, Rick Hauptman, Gabe Carbajal and Sharon Moncada

Required gear: Sleeping bag, rain coat and sleeping pad needed

Dates: Depart May 21, Return May 24

GRADE 8

Where: Oregon Caves, Treesort and an overnight stay at the Portland Zoo

Leaders: Jen Silvernale and Allen Batchelder

Required gear: Sleeping bag, rain gear and sleeping pad needed

Dates: Depart May 21, Return May 25

GRADE 9

Where: Lake Stehekin, Washington

Leaders: Karen Mattick and Kim Uyyek

Required gear: Sleeping bag, rain gear, sleeping pads and tents needed

GRADE 10

Where: Deschutes River Rafting in Oregon

Leaders: Laurie Dunston and Will Gray

Required gear: Sleeping bag, splash/rain gear, sleeping pads, and tents needed

Where: Smith Rocks, Oregon

Leaders: Catherine Kolb and Gary Perless

Where: Lincoln City on the Oregon Coast
