West Sound Academy’s approach to education is based on current research, uses inquiry to develop critical thinking, effectively integrates academics and arts, enhances curiosity, and goes beyond each discipline’s typical boundaries to study the philosophical and ethical aspects of content.  Small classes are an important component supporting this approach. With academics comes an exposure to multiple disciplines in the arts, including drama, dance, music, and visual art.

WSA is committed to cultural and economic diversity.  International students account for some 17% of the student body. West Sound Academy offers a robust financial aid program providing scholarships to students to help make a WSA education affordable.

Engaging Curriculum

Through a combination of challenging academics, integrated arts, outdoor adventure, experiential learning and community service, West Sound Academy students become self-directed individuals well prepared to succeed at the university level and beyond.

All students work to hone the skills of writing, thinking, and speaking. We teach through performance standards, asking students to demonstrate their understanding of curricular content. Because this requires more active participation, students come to value their role in learning. Our students are not passive, but are engaged in managing their own education.
