West Sound students practice a depth of character, self-confidence, and communication skills by participating in a respectful community dynamic. Morning Meeting Every Tuesday morning and Thursday afternoon the entire student body, grades 6-12, gathers for a sharing of ideas. Students, faculty, and visitors make presentations or facilitate activities about subjects of common interest. The meetings are sometimes serious and sometimes playful. Each gathering closes with a time of absolute silence. Environmental Stewardship Near the close of the school day on Thursday, all students engage in campus cleanup projects to practice stewardship of their environment. The insights that come from working as part of a team, both inside and outside the classroom, are important steps in becoming agents of change and assuming a productive role in society. Finding Our Voice West Sound students are asked to take risks to stretch beyond their comfort zone both mentally and physically. We know that risk-taking in a safe environment, such as making presentations before the entire student body, exploring a variety of arts, developing self-advocacy, or experiencing outdoor education stimulates personal growth and develops a greater sense of achievement. Our students are encouraged to think independently towards finding their own creative voice. Read about WSA at IndependentSchools.com, a global independent schools directory.
