Let us introduce you to a few of our graduates:

Bridget Parke-Crabtree: Class of 2006

Bridget has been living and working in Oxford, United Kingdom, this past year. She accepted an internship in major donor prospect research with Exeter College at the University of Oxford. She also interned at the Head Office in Oxford at YWCA England & Wales, where she worked in online fundraising and major donor cultivation. She will return to Seattle University in the fall to complete her degree in Public Affairs and Nonprofit Leadership. Bridget also serves as WSA Alumni Coordinator, acting as a liaison between the school and its seventy-eight graduates to date.

Tasia completed her degree in Cellular, Molecular, and Developmental Biology from the University of Washington and began Medical School at the University of Minnesota in Fall 2008. As a college senior, she led a Freshman interest group and taught her 16 students about the UW community. She completed research in medical genetics as an undergraduate and presented her findings at a research symposium.  This past summer she taught native American college students about physical diagnosis in medicine and helped in a high school superstars program that was trying to expose students to the medical profession. She also completed a summer internship in medicine where she worked with different doctors in various specialties such as surgery, ophthalmology, radiology, family practice, and pediatrics.

WesWes Corbett: Class of 2004

A lifelong musician, Wes resides in Boston, MA, where he performs with the string bands Joy Kills Sorrow  (which will be releasing it's second record on Signature Sounds in February 2010) and The Bee Eaters. Wes has been composing and arranging original music for the banjo for many years and has appeared in concert with the David Grisman Quintet, Mike Marshall and the Darol Anger Duo and opened for Tony Rice with Lincoln Meyers and String Alliance. Wes has toured internationally with the Biscuit Burners and has released and played on a number of other records. He continues to write and create music.

JasonJason Crabtree: Class of 2004

Jason graduated with honors from the U. S. Military Academy at West Point in 2008, where he served as the Brigade Commander for the 4400 members of the Corps of Cadets. A civil engineering undergraduate, Jason commissioned into the infantry and maintains an interest in strategic studies and international relations. Jason is finishing the end of his two years at the University of Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar. While finishing a Masters of Science by Research in multi-disciplinary engineering optimization methods, he co-founded a green energy company. Distributed Energy Management, now based in the Seattle area, has now grown to 13 employees. This fall, he is headed back to serve as an Infantry Officer in the U.S. Army.

brandon Brandon Rain: Class of 2004

Brandon graduated from the University of Washington in 2008 with a major in Celluar, Molecular and Developmental Biology. He worked after graduation at a pharmaceutical company, and is now attending law school. "I am proud to be the individual that I am today, and West Sound Academy has played a role for which I am eternally grateful."

MarthaMartha van Gelder: Class of 2004

Martha is a 2008 Graduate of Lewis and Clark College. She was recently in the Shandong Province, China, working in a psychology lab and researching the development of aggression and bullying in children.

ShannonShannon Crabtree: Class of 2003

Shannon graduated Magna Cum Laude with degrees in Biology and Classical Studies from Carroll College in Helena, Montana in 2007. She is pursuing her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine at Washington State University and plans to practice medicine in Western Washington in 2011.

Christine Miglino: Class of 2003

Christie graduated Magna Cum Laude from Wells College in 2007 with a BA in Dance and Theatre and a minor in French and French History. While in college, she traveled to West Africa to study sociology, language, and art and danced with the Rebudal Dance Group in Manhattan. Christie is currently dancing professionally in San Francisco, producing a series of dance video shorts, and doing some commercial acting.

amanda_aurand_tnAmanda Aurand: Class of 2002

Amanda graduated from Whitworth College in 2007 with a dual degree in Special Education and Elementary Education with a minor in reading.  She has since returned to Western Washington.  Amanda worked as a Special Education teacher for kindergarten through second grade students for three years. She is now the teacher for the K-5 Behavior program in the Bremerton School District. Amanda says the two lessons she learned from West Sound Academy that she carries with her as she teaches her students are, "the importance and necessity of being a community of learners, and always being open to new discoveries about the world and oneself. I hope I can continue to pass these life lessons and the many others that I learned from my years at West Sound Academy along to the children that have been brought into my life."
