The dance program seeks to provide a substantial immersion in the world of dance as a human experience. Exploratory Dance is designed to create an overview of dance in various contexts: conceptual, technical, cultural and creative. As the student progresses into Levels 1, 2 and 3, the student will focus more on technical skill development and composition, both repertory and original work. At the Focus level, students are able to work over a two-block period where choreography, technique and research can be explored in greater depth. In Special Project classes, students will create an independent study program that will enable them to integrate outside dance study with work at school. Throughout their dance experience, students will develop an understanding and application of the diverse role dance plays in the articulation of the human condition.
