English Proficiency Standards for International Students

West Sound Academy is now offering English language programs for many levels of proficiency. In order for students to enter into WSA at the grade level appropriate for their age, they must be Advanced English speakers.

Students entering grades 11 and 12, in particular, should have strong English competency in order to successfully complete the demanding curriculum.

Students who have conversational English skills may apply to the Intermediate Beginner’s English Course program (ESL 1) which is designed to improve academic English with focused study of multiple ESL topics.

Upon successful completion of the ESL 1 program, students may then advance to the ESL-2, ESL-3 and IB Diploma Programme courses within the traditional mainstream high school course load.
